The Best Of : Black Eyeliners

The Best Of : Black Eyeliners | Megan Taylor

With Halloween on the horizon you may be off to an amazing Halloween party and have a great costume planned. Black eyeliners are a must have for your halloween make up. I, myself am actually just off for a lazy weekend in the countryside with a group of friends for Liam’s birthday. Even if you aren’t planning on dressing up you may like to pay homage to Hallows Eve by perfecting the perfect eyeliner cats eye flick! I have toyed with liquid liner and kohl pencils for years, often resulting in a wonky line and smudged panda eye appearance. I thought I would show you what my current black eyeliner favourites of the moment are.

☆☆☆

THE PENCIL SMUDGERS

Too Faced (Perfect Black)
This pencil comes with its own angled rubber smudger. Because of its angled nature, it is great to continue the straight line. The blackness of this pencil is so rich that it feels like a kajal liner.

KIKO (Black)
This eye pencil also comes with its own smudger. The melting nature of the pencils texture leads me to have panda eyes very quickly. I would say this is the perfect eyeliner to blend a smokey eye but not great for a tidy black lined day make up look.

THE LIQUID THICKNESS TEST

Eyeko (Fat)
This eyeliner is like a child’s thick felt tip pen. If you are new to liquid eyeliners or are quite bad at creating the perfect cats flick then this is the eyeliner for you. I love how it is so full of liquid that you only need to draw the line once. I have used some liquid eyeliners that aren’t liquidy enough so you have to continually draw a line to get the rich black look.

Eyeko (Black Magic)
This is my most favourite eyeliner of the moment are quite possibly my favourite of all time. The precision of its tiny pointy end is incredible for a delicate line.

KIKO (Precision eyeliner – Black)
I really like this eyeliner for a deep thick black cats flick. Nothing personal to this eyeliner at all but I always find these liquid pots of black liner to be a bit more fiddly to apply and I often make more mistakes with it, I think because of it being a bit more runny than a felt tip style.

THE CHUNKY MONKEY

Models Own (Kajal Liner)
I am loving this chunky kajal liner at the moment. It has a very rich crayon like texture with the deep blackness of a new black Sharpie. I love its versatility of being able to be used in both your waterline and above your eyes for a cat flick.

These are just my current favourites, there are many more that I adore. I have grown up used Rimmel’s kohl liner and in recent years I have more recently adored Chanel’s black pencil. Which eyeliners do you like?

Thank you very much Natalie. I feel like I don’t look awake until I put on my eyeliner 😛

Now I need rot know exactly how to do the flick look. Never seems to work properly for me but I love it when I see it on other people especially when it’s done really subtly! A ‘how to’ video would be great 🙂
