Along with the British summer time being a bit of a wash out and South West Trains well and truly screwed, I have never needed a relaxing bath more than I do now. As an avid lover of a relaxing bath I feel I have come to have top notch tips on how to create the perfect bath. Here are my 5 steps to what I believe to be a perfect bath. Thank me later in your trance like state after your perfect nights sleep…
STEP 1 : LIGHT ME UP
Your bath time must be filled with candles for the perfect relaxation vibe. Pick your favourite scented candle and burn it for 5 minutes before you step into your bath, this way your bathroom will smell of the scent rather than just blown out matches. If you just fancy the ambiance of a candlelit room but don’t fancy a scent then I recommend Tiger’s long skinny candles or Ikea’s HUGE chunky monkey bulk packs because they last for a really long time and are completely scentless. My top tip for chunky candle holders is to keep glass jars from old candles and wash them out once they have burnt away. You can then fill the jars with Ikea candles. Ikea also sell really affordable vases in bulk packs which fit their candles in perfectly.
STEP 2 : OIL ME UP
Oil vs Bubbles? I love both, I adore a traditional bubble bath, the more bubbles the better in my opinion. I have never had as good a bubble bath than I did when I stayed at Soho Farmhouse last year (have a look at how beautiful my experience was here). The baths are actually outside on your balcony (with hessian curtains to hide your dignity) and are the biggest tin baths you have ever seen. Beside your bath there are loads of bottles of different varieties of scented Cowshed bubble baths which create humungous bubbles. Once your bath is made, the bubbles come up higher than your head…oh how I wish I could be back there again. …anyway I diverse… At the moment, for the pure relaxation I am loving aromatherapy bath oils in my bath for a heady relaxing state. I am currently loving this Ren anti-fatigue bath oil. I spoke more about this particular Ren range here and about how it can help relax you and your muscles. Which do you prefer, playtime bubbles or relaxing oils?
STEP 3 : SMOOTH THE SKIN
This is a new addition to my bath time routine and I wish I had known about it sooner because I am in LOVE with the whole process. When I was recently introduced to Ren’s Exfoliating Body Balm I was curious. This is an exfoliating balm which you can scrub all over your body before getting in the bath. I rub it in well, working it into the drier patches of my skin like my shins since I got back from holiday. The exfoliation is very delicate and not at all harsh, yet still manages to do the job. The reason I am so excited by this body balm is that you can get in your bath with it on and let it soak off you without having to wash it off before your soak. The balm then dissolves from your body into your bath water making the water feel soothing and silky…honestly, give it a try, you will love it. Also, the tub of balm lasts ages so is well worth the money.
STEP 4 : LUXURIES
Which luxury are you most partial to? Mine depends on which day of the week it is. If I am having a cosy and relaxing night in on a Friday or Saturday I am a huge fan of a cold glass of Prosecco and a box of posh truffles to keep me company. If it is a weekday evening I tend to have a big glass of super cold water to help me cope with my insanely hot bath. I also love to have my current favourite book or flick through the latest issue of Vogue. Another of my current favourite bath time moments is to watch the latest episode of Jane The Virgin to really relax and totally take my mind off everything. If like me your internet seems to not be able to get through the barrier of the bathroom door then catch up on my latest Netflix Picks which are filled with the best downloadable shows and movies.
STEP 5 : DE-FUZZ
After a relaxing bath I always give my legs a quick once over with a razor. Especially after using the body balm, my skin is feeling super smooth and I don’t want to ruin that with any prickle. I have been loving my Gillette Venus portable razor at the moment as I have been travelling a lot more than usual and I have been able to stick it in my wash bag without the fear of cutting myself, also it’s pink and cute…how perfect. Other necessities I have been loving are the Ren body wash which as you can see in the picture below it is pretty much empty unfortunately so I need to restock asap. I have blogged about my favourite must have Clarins cleanser on numerous occasions but incase you didn’t know, this cleanser is my favourite because it is really gentle and doesn’t hurt my skin in anyway. Something I haven’t photographed which is the perfect way to finish your relaxing bathing evening is the serum which I live by at the moment. The reason I haven’t photographed it yet is because it isn’t actually out yet, it is a brand new product which I can not wait to tell you all about and shout about from the rooftops. So, for now I will happily recommend Balm Balm’s Little Miracle Serum which I have loved and adored for so many years now and always will. Smother your face in this serum after your steamy bath and I guarantee you will wake up the next morning with insanely soft skin.
What makes the perfect bath for you?
