Let me introduce you to the most expensive make up I have ever worn. I must admit I am a bit scared of falling in love with these beauties because I am not sure I can afford to constantly replenish such luxury. Last month, I was invited to an event held by La Mer and it came at the perfect time. When I received the invitation , I was thrilled. I had just come to the end of a bottle of foundation and I have always wondered if I wear the right foundation colour, well, I always knew I wasn’t because I just picked up any old thing from Boots, often swayed by what was being publicised the most at the time. My most common buy is Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation which I love, mostly because it smells fruity and reminds me of the summer holidays. Anyway, I digress…I was invited to the La Mer event where I was professionally colour matched. I also met the fabulous make up artist to the stars Patrick Ta. If Gigi Hadid can trust him to do her make up then so can I. I have been trying the luxury make up products for the last month, find out in a video below, how I have got along and see exactly how they are to use.
CONCEALER
I used to be a big concealer stick fan when I was younger. I would literally slather a stick all over my adolescent skin as you would with liquid foundation…not the best look. Yet, as I have grown older I have tended to use a liquid concealer alongside my foundation. I have been trying this concealer stick and actually much prefer it to a liquid concealer because the coverage is so much better. I find directly applying the concealer to the skin to be a little bit tricky. I prefer to rub a little onto my hand to warm it up, making it a bit creamier and then apply it with a brush.
FOUNDATION
Spoiler alert…I love this foundation! I have been loving using this foundation, which is killing me inside as I really didn’t want to get caught in the trap of spending a fortune. Whoopsy! The coverage of this foundation isn’t as dense as my trusty Rimmel yet gives me a much nicer, natural look. It glides on your skin beautifully. I have applied it with a brush and with my fingers and both work well. The smell of this foundation is also lovely, a little old fashioned in fact.
POWDER
I don’t have much to compare this product to as I am not a big powder user myself. When I am on a modelling or acting job the make up artists often use a powder on me but at home I like to be a little more sparing with my make up use, therefore normally skipping powder incase it clogs my skin up. I have used this powder twice when going out-out and I really like it. This is a set powder and I was colour matched as ‘light’. I use an oversized make up brush and just dab a little over my finished make up look and it sets my make up to perfection. If you are a powder gal then this one is lovely.
Would you spend £90 on foundation?
Looks amazing and yes, I would spend £90 on foundation if it’s that good 😊 x
