HOW TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO BOOST YOUR BUSINESS

40 THINGS EVERY BLOGGER HAS DONE | Megan Taylor

You may have noticed that I wrote an ebook on How To Ace Social Media. Well, I have partnered up with NatWest to share even more gems of information. Do you have a business, a brand, a product or are you trying to make something of yourself and be a personal brand? They have a whole load more tips and tricks for small businesses on this page and this one as well. My tips here and on their site will definitely help you grow and sell. All my tips are completely free to do and relatively easy. You just need a little time and effort. In fact as little as 10 minutes a day will help you. Make sure you check out my past post on how Pinterest can help increase your website page hits and another of my posts on how to grow your Instagram following. In fact I have a whole section on my blog with “Blog Tips”. Read ahead for 3 of my 7 tips that I shared with NatWest for their Tips & Advice page for businesses.

This is a paid partnership with NatWest.

1. BUSINESS ACCOUNT

Before doing anything else, change your Instagram account to a ‘Business Account’. By doing this you will have access to some key information. It is completely free to change to a business account. When you have a business account you are able to find out valuable information about your audience. You can see where in the world your potential customers are, their age, their gender and even what time of the day they are most engaged. There are some rumours that Instagram penalises those with a business account by not showing their content as much but in fact they have categorically stated that this is not true so don’t fret.

2. CHEAPER THAN A WEBSITE WITH MORE REACH

I went to a conference about social media last year and found out that teens are choosing to use Instagram as a search engine over the likes of Google. If your target audience is younger then you need to use this to your advantage. Instagram is free whereas creating a website, although important, is time consuming and can be expensive. Make sure you are staying consistent with your uploads and hash-tagging relevantly to stay at the top of searches. Instagram accounts seem to rank really high on Google search engines so having an account is actually a great SEO tactic for your business.

3. SAVED BOARDS

Make use of the bookmark tool where you can privately save Instagram posts to different boards. To save a post to a specific board you need to hold down on the bookmark icon in the bottom right of a post and press the + button. With this you can create your own boards. I have boards for Instagram content inspiration, company re-grams, follower mentions, collaborations etc. If you are ever lacking inspiration for posts you can refer back to these boards.

Let me know what you think of my top tips on here and on NatWest’s page and if there are any other tips you want to share with everyone that you know works.
