90s FESTIVAL HAIR AND MAKE UP

90s FESTIVAL HAIR AND MAKE UP | Megan Taylor

Welcome to summer, the season to be festive or hang out at festivals apparently. I’m really not the festival type, I’m not particularly comfortable hanging out in a field full of people and no amenities within easy (and clean) reach. That being said if I were invited to Coachella for the day I’d totally say yes and I have seen some people going to some plush looking festival in London which looks lovely and civilised and full of cocktails and fairy lights…anyone know which festival this is? One thing I do love about festival life though is the “fancy dress” as such. I love the space buns, cute clothes and sparkly fun make up. I have created a fun and easy festival hair and make up look inspired by the 90s because of this adorable Bang On The Door Groovy Chick top I was sent and haven’t stopped wearing ever since.

HAIR

I have been trying out this Lee Stafford skinny curling wand and thought it was perfect for the festival season. The curls take quite a while to create because the clumps of hair that you wrap around the wand are much smaller than the normal amount you would curl each time on a more standard sized wand. These curls will last a really long time as well. I didn’t even use hairspray on these curls and they lasted 3 days, so with a little sprinkle of hairspray this hair look would last you a whole 4 day festival weekend. Once I had roughly curled every bit of my hair I split the top sections in two and twirled them until they wrapped on themselves and clipped them down with some adorable rose gold claws from Scunci (available from Primark).

MAKE UP

I was quite haphazard with my make up because I had that feeling of if I were at a festival in a tent with a handheld mirror I would have limited make up and mirror capabilities. I used the top left colour ‘Ember’ in the Blaze Models Own palette all over my eye lids. Then the bottom right colour ‘Glow’ in the inner-corners of my eyes to give that Blake Lively awake-eyes style. Then I used the 3INA green kajal liner all along my bottom lids. I used the Benefit Dew To Hoola all over my face to make me look dewy and bronzed. To finish, I swiped on a layer of Joan Collins Fontaine Lipstick which lasts all day. (All links for the make up are below the make up images). The finishing touch was the jewels which I popped on each side of my eyes.
