Top 5 Books – Summer 2016

I love reading and I love writing yet I am a slow reader and I need minimal distractions whilst I read. Therefore summer holidays are where I read the most. This summer I have read five books which I have adored so I thought I would share them with you as you simply must read them yourself. I have listed and filmed a You Tube video which are linked below my Top 5 Books of Summer 2016.

The Last Song
I am a big lover of all of Nicholas Sparks’ novels. If you fancy a love story you must read his whole back catalogue. This book has made me want to go and look after turtles…have a read and you will know what I mean.

Vinegar Girl
A modern and easy to read adaptation of the Taming Of The Shrew. I loved this book and really got hooked on the story line and the characters.

The Witches Kiss
A young girl called Merry has some exciting magic powers. This is a great book to help you escape from reality. I have a strong feeling the Corrs sister are going to be hugely popular after this debut novel.

Everything Everything
This book is currently in Zoella’s bookclub picks and unsurpringly in the best sellers list at W.H.Smiths. The pretty cover immediately drew me to it and the synopsis sounded really enticing. Aimed at the tween audience I thought I would be too old for this book yet I adored it whilst laughing and crying on the beach.

My Grandmother Sends Her Regards And Apologises
On holiday last year I read ‘A Man Called Ove‘ and I fell in love with the hilarious heart warming story about an elderly man. This year I read Fredrik Backman’s latest novel ‘My Grandmother Sends Her Regards And Apologises’ and fell in love and laughed out loud once again, yet this time with an elderly lady and her grand daughter. I can not recommend these two books enough.

Other books I have been loving are Elena Ferrante’s books:
Make sure you give these Italian novels a try as soon as possible as they are wonderful 🙂
Book 1: My Brilliant Friend
Book 2: The Story Of A New Name
Book 3: Those Who Leave And Those Who Stay
Book 4: The Story Of The Lost Child

June 2016 Favourites

It is almost the end of June and I have to say it has been one of my favourite months so far. With a little break at the beginning of the month to Barcelona with my family I have still managed to fit in a lot of wonderful jobs. My blog and writing life have been getting increasingly more exciting and so has my modelling and acting career. It is true…everything comes along at once and tests us in the best way. As I do each month, I have listed a few of my favourite things that I have been loving this month below. Click the link at the bottom of the page for my video where I show you the products up close and tell you why they are all so amazing.

LAST MINUTE MOTHER’S DAY GIFT GUIDE

Mother’s Day is in a few days time and for some us we may have forgotten to buy a present. While your presence and some roses may be all your mum wants, I am sure she would quite like a little gift too ☺ I have compiled a gift guide suitable for all tastes. All the gift ideas I have included are able to be bought online and will arrive just in time for the special day.

COPPER COCKTAIL GOODIES

I am loving all things copper and rose gold right now and it seems all the shops are too. These gifts are a perfect gift for the stylish cocktail lover in us all. Best of all you can get creative with the cocktails on Mothering Sunday to keep all the family happy (the kiddies can just giggle at your tipsiness).
…have fun but drink responsibly.
Rum
Cocktail Stirrer
Cocktail Shaker
Moscow Mule Mug
Gin

BOOK LOVERSThese books are books to keep forever. Whether that be on the coffee table or besides the toilet to make your guests have a giggle. The Ladybird books are having a revival at the moment. I can personally recommend the Mildfulness book, but only if you can have a laugh at the whole “Mindful” commotion. To conflict this book, there is a specific Mother’s Day mindful colouring in book. Everyone must have a copy of The Secret and it makes a wonderful present in hardback.
The Secret
Mindfulness
Colouring In
The Mum
The Alchemist

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND
Most girls appreciate an itty bitty bit of bling. My dream diamond earrings would be the pair from Ernest Jones but at £1999 I am not sure I can afford them…one day. I was surprised the Vivienne Westwood earrings were only £65.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone that is a mummy or acts like a mummy xx

Top 10 Christmas Books

Christmas can be a stressful time for a lot of us.
So many presents to buy, cards to send, outfits to decide on.
One of the best ways to de-stress is to wrap up all cosy on the sofa with a mug of tea and read a good book.
Christmas books are my absolute favourite because you can transport yourself to a festive land.
Below I have chosen my Top 10 Christmas Books that you must own.
(Each book name below is a hyperlink so you can easily find the book on Amazon).

1. Christmas A Very Peculiar History
This book feels like a special gift. The pages are edged with gold leaf. The pictures are beautifully annotated.
You will learn so much about the history of Christmas but in a very fun way.

2. The Fox At The Manger
A gift from my mum I adore this book. I know I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but it really is gorgeous.
Written by the author of Mary Poppins, it is a must have.
A book to read to the children but you will enjoy it too.

3. A Child’s Christmas in Wales
A wonderful Welsh tale for all my fellow Welshies out there this Christmas.
Lovely colourful illustrations.

4. Through A Glass Darkly
A very emotional and heartwarming story between a sick girl and an angel.
I took this book off my parents when I was quite young thinking a would try and read a grown up book.
I really enjoyed the story and it has stuck with me for a very long time.

5. The Night Before Christmas
A traditional story to read the night before Christmas.
My husband bought me this special copy a few years ago.
Even as adults we read a Christmas story to each other every Christmas Eve.

6. Something From Tiffany’s
This chick lit is a quick romantic read over the Christmas period.
Who doesn’t wish for a little blue box under the Christmas tree?

7. Miracle On Regent Street
Another Christmas chick lit that I loved.
A magical and hopeful Christmas story to read on your daily commute.

8. Little Women
Everyone must read Little Women at least once…for me three times.
Definitely one of my favourite stories. Everyone should have a copy on their bookshelf.

9. I Heart Christmas
I adore the ‘I Heart…’ series by Lindsey Kelk.
I tend to read one of her books every summer holiday.
I read this very quickly last Christmas and loved it.

Not quite a book to read but more a book to treasure.
Open up the book to see what all the Christmas Fairy’s get up to at Christmas.
The pictures are magical and there are lots of creative festive ideas of things to make over the Christmas period.
