WHAT IS A BEAUTY BOX?

A Look Fantastic Beauty Box is different every month. You get a box full of beauty products and a copy of the latest Elle magazine. In past boxes I have had lipsticks, face creams, face masks, nail files, copper tweezers. With brands ranging from Pixi to Nuxe. There are sooo many gorgeous treats for you to try and the beauty boxes give you an opportunity to try out some products that you wouldn’t have necessarily bought before.

Hush Christmas Picks

Every summer for 6 years I have lived in a dress my auntie bought me from Hush. It’s safe to say I have been a fan of Hush for a very long time. Something that my mum and I adore about Hush is that their clothes always come smelling incredible…mum is an aromatherapist and both of us can’t help but smell everything, which is why this is an important point to me haha. Each order comes with Hush’s latest newsletter which is like a gorgeous broad sheet style magazine which I find ever so inspiring.

Hush’s current Christmas collection is gorgeous and as always all of their fabrics are lovely and soft to touch. In fact the grey jersey top you can spy in my header image is aptly called their ‘Slub T’, perfectly named. I am a huge sucker for star prints so my favourite items are their star print PJ’s, dresses and jumpers (the star print PJ shorts are in my header image-look at that gorgeous print). My absolute favourite find from their Christmas party shop, which I am really excited to share with you, is their silk cami body. I am not sure if I am getting old and miserable but I think I have always hated cold air around my belly area. This gorgeous silk body, masquerading as strap top is definitely the answer to my woes. It will also transfer from season to season as a staple in your wardrobe. In the winter you can layer it up with cute cardigans and jackets, whereas in the summer you could simply add a high waisted skirt…keep an eye on my Instagram feed where I am sure to add fashion looks involving this top.

I filmed a ‘Christmas Get Ready With Me’ where I show you how to do an relaxed Christmas party make up look along with what I wore to a Christmas party, featuring some gorgeous products from Hush.

The Best Of : Eye Make Up Removers

Back in May I wrote an article for the Daily Mail where I tested 10 different waterproof mascaras. I was really lucky that it was very successful and got shared hundreds and hundreds of times. Lots of lovely PR companies got in touch to say thank you and suggested I try their clients make up removers as well. So, I did and followed up the article trying out lots of make up removers designed specifically for removing waterproof make up. The article was released on Thursday and has been really successful again which makes me very happy ♥

I also happened to film a video to go alongside so you can see the make up removers being used. I tested all of the make up removers on Bobbi Brown’s waterproof mascara because I found it to be incredibly difficult to remove and was the best waterproof mascara that I tested back in May.

It is almost the end of June and I have to say it has been one of my favourite months so far. With a little break at the beginning of the month to Barcelona with my family I have still managed to fit in a lot of wonderful jobs. My blog and writing life have been getting increasingly more exciting and so has my modelling and acting career. It is true…everything comes along at once and tests us in the best way. As I do each month, I have listed a few of my favourite things that I have been loving this month below. Click the link at the bottom of the page for my video where I show you the products up close and tell you why they are all so amazing.

Blogosphere Magazine Event – Goodie Bag Reveal

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to Blogosphere’s cover reveal party for issue 9 and I had a wonderful time. In a little hidden away spot in Soho we entered into a long winding location full of rooms with different entertainment. The goodie bag was rather epic so I have filmed a video showing you everything that was in it.

Top 10 tips to make your teeth bright

I may may not be a professional dental practitioner but I am a model and actress which means my teeth are very important for my job. In this industry I am often in front of the camera and the close ups on my teeth are intense, meaning my teeth are always on my mind and I am very aware that I need to look after them. Over the years I have learnt and discovered many top tips to keep your teeth in tip top condition. Below I have listed my top 10 tips to make your teeth bright. I go into a little more detail on my YouTube channel. Check out my latest video with the link at the bottom of this page.

☆☆☆

1. Do not drink red wine or coffee

2. Do not smoke

3. Do not brush your teeth after eating fruit

4. When you consume acidic food and drinks, finish up with a glass of water

5. Floss

6. Use a straw

7. Brush your teeth twice a day

8. Drink water

9. Mouth wash and/or coconut pulling

10. If all else fails…have your teeth whitened professionally

Products that I use

Sterline Electric Toothbrush
I am loving this toothbrush by Sterline. The power is super strong and there is a choice of three toothbrush heads. My favourite is the interdental head which is great for cleaning my fixed brace and getting in my gums. Also it is super cheap for an electric toothbrush!

CB12 Mouthwash
I am particularly loving this mouth wash at the moment because as a fresh breath addict I love the fact this is so strongly scented yet doesn’t burn your mouth!

I hope you have enjoyed my video and top 10 tips to make your teeth bright and white. If you have any questions or some extra tips to add feel free to comment down below x

May 2016 Favourites

I know I have already blogged today but having been away for a few days I forgot to put up a blog post alongside my YouTube video that went up on Sunday evening to share all the links for you to the latest things that I have been loving.
It is that time of the month again when another month has just left us…can you believe we our in the sixth chapter of our year! This month I have been loving a few things beauty and a random electronic sketching pad…It is really great. As always I have filmed a video alongside this blog to help tell you a little more and show you the products up close. The link is at the bottom of this page.

Olympus Pen Camera
I have discussed my love for this camera in a few other blog posts including a YouTube video where I unboxed it. Apart from the fact this camera is divine to look at and very photographable itself, it is really quite wonderful. I love how it is so quick and easy to take shots, it is light to carry around. The best feature is that you can quickly transfer photos between your camera and phone for editing and sharing on social media.

Wacom Digital Pad
This is a rather random favourite and a fairly recent purchase. It looks much like an iPad but you hook it up to your laptop and use it as a sketch pad. It is so wonderful. I haven’t yet had enough time to perfect my skills on it but I am so excited to start sketching and annotating my blog photos…watch this space.

Lauren Conrad – Celebrate
I am loving this Pinterest worthy book by Hill’s alumna Lauren Conrad. It is full of beautiful and inspiring pictures that make you want to host many many tea parties.

Lancome Doll Eyes Waterproof Mascara
I reviewed this mascara for my mascara testing article that I wrote for the Daily Mail and it was wonderful. I have been using it a lot lately because it lengthens my lashes really well. I speak more about the waterproof mascaras that I tested in this YouTube video.

Bobbi Brown Waterproof Mascara Remover
After reviewing the waterproof mascaras Bobbi Brown kindly sent me this waterproof mascara make up remover and I have already fallen in love with it. Last week I filmed a TV commercial where I had an insane amount of glitter on my eyes and this mascara took it all off with ease and no red rash was left over.

Chloe Perfume
I have loved this perfume for years and years and always will. I would say this is my signature scent. A fresh fruity summer scent that I am often complimented on.

Lucas Embelished Jeans
These are my current favourite jeans that jazz up my casual outfit days. I actually wore them to a couple of auditions lately and they were such a great conversation starter that I became more confident and booked the jobs…these jeans have definitely paid for themselves now.

High Street Beauty Haul | Kiko · Nyx · Clarins

It has been a while since I have treated myself to some new make up treats. In fact I think the last time I bought this much make up was for my wedding and honeymoon in 2014. A few weeks ago in Brighton I stumbled passed the KIKO shop and couldn’t help myself. If it wasn’t for Liam looking a bit bored I think I would have spent far money and far more time in this shop. I also ventured over to the biggest Boots store I have ever been too with so much make up on offer. There was a NYX counter which has had a lot of buzz around the beauty blogging / You Tubing commuting lately and I was very excited to finally get my hands on some. I have filmed an in depth video on the products I picked up at Kiko, Nyx and Clarins which is linked at the bottom of the page. I have also linked where to buy all the products in this blog post.

Waterproof Mascaras | Tried and Tested

I have spent the last few months working on this article for the Daily Mail Online. I have spent this time sourcing the best possible waterproof mascaras ranging from £1.99 to £50. I spent a couple of days wearing each of them. The Daily Mail then sent me off to Virgin Active with a photographer to put the mascaras to the ultimate test…can they withstand a dip in a swimming pool.

WILD GEESE PHOTOSHOOT

This week I was lucky enough to be booked on a photo shoot for a new loungewear brand called Wild Geese. The shoot was a mixture of e commerce and lifestyle images for the campaign and website. We shot in a beautiful loft type studio in Kennington called Studio Boardroom which rumour has it is the location for a big budget movie being filmed there soon. We started the day off sharing our life stories whilst munching on croissants, yoghurt, fruit and drinking cups of tea whilst the studio was being set up. I then moved into the make up chair for a natural dewy make up look. (The make up brands we used are in the ‘Shop The Blog’ link at the bottom of the page).
After my hour of beautifying, it was time to shoot the collection. We started with the lifestyle images set in a kitchen with croissants, magazines and coffee. We then moved onto a set up with a gorgeous free standing bath complete with ornate white feet. One day I want this bath in my house. We then shot the whole collection for the e commerce shop. This involved shooting every garment front, side and back. Some e commerce shoots require you to stand still in a really stiff position which can be quite boring for both the model and the clients looking at the pictures. For Wild Geese I got to pose a little bit, helping the clothes come to life and hopefully make people want to buy the clothes even more ☺.
At 4pm the big six nations rugby game began so we put the England V Wales game on on the iPad to have in the background. Whilst the last shot was being set up in a glamorous Great Gatsby style, the gorgeous client then opened a bottle of fizz to perk us all up after a long day of shooting. The last shot was more seductive than the “girl next door” theme of the day. I think I pulled it off but I am in general much more confident playing around being smiley.
At 6pm we wrapped the shoot, packed up and went our separate ways back home to put our feet up. It was so lovely working with such a nice chilled team and being the clients first collection was very exciting. The owner Lauren even wrote on Wild Geese’s Instagram, “What a great day! Thank you so much @itsmegantaylor Wild Geese looks exactly how I hoped it would. X” (It is always lovely to have feedback from a client). The clothes were all gorgeous and I definitely want every item that I wore. My favourite was the silky cotton Santorini PJ bottoms. Make sure you keep an eye out for them once they launch in April. In the mean time follow them on Instagram @wildgeeselondon

Below is a mini behind the scenes video of our shoot.

Whole Foods Haul

I have a great love for Whole Foods. I think my love of Whole Foods began on a trip I took to New York when I was younger. We stayed in an apartment in Union Square right by a Whole Foods where we would go food shopping most days. Every Whole Foods in London has exactly the same smell when you walk in through the door as the store in New York. The scent as soon as I walk in hits me with memories of New York and for that half an hour that I spend shopping I am in a dream world of thinking that I am actually living in New York. The food is all a bit different from what we have in our normal supermarkets in the UK. You can make your own peanut butter, buy big scoops of seeds and grains. The only downside is the food is quite expensive. As a treat once in a while I pop into Whole Foods in London to stock up on some lovely treats which are actually mostly very healthy.
One cocktail infused afternoon, in a drunken stupor Liam and I headed into Whole Foods to spend a small fortune. We bought some raw chocolates, mounds of seeds and a lot of coconut flakes. Below is a link to my video haul where I talk about some of the products that we bought.

Items Mentioned

Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Hemp Protein Powder
Pumpkin Seeds
Coconut Flakes
Ombar 90%
Conscious Chocolate ‘Wild At Heart’

Conscious Mint Hint
Booja Booja Ice Cream
The Raw Chocolate Company Mulberry

Confessions of a fashion week newbie

Confessions of a fashion week newbie

The whirlwind that is London Fashion Week has now come to a close.
I was sent for my first working fashion week as a journalist.
Full of anxiety and excitement I packed my bag full of phone chargers, notepads, show tickets and my Oyster card. After six outfit changes, I settled on a Victoria Beckham knit jumper, pair of Zara leather look jeans, leather jacket, black faux fur scarf and a pair of chunky black Vagabond boots. I felt as if I bridged the look of edgy cool but also vaguely smart. I have been to a few shows in the past as a guest. Some I have got into, others I haven’t as I was too far at the back of the queue and had to resort watching through the windows of the Saatchi Gallery. For this reason I was quite apprehensive about the thought of not actually getting into the shows. Just imagine, what would I tell my editor? I’m not quite as ballsy as those young fashion students who, in a pack can push their way into any show. My first show of the day was Aspinal at the ever divine Claridges. I arrived an unfashionably two and a half hours early to suss out the situation. As I walk through the doors Naomi Campbell rushes past me and then I bump into the CEO of Aspinal at reception who was wonderfully kind and took my business card to put me on the guest list.
After a note to myself that I need to update my ancient business cards I headed off for some breakfast with a big sense of relief.

ASPINAL
Once I walked into Aspinal I was taken back by the ethereal beauty of the set up. There were waiters bearing edible and drinkable delights. Pearl emblazoned cake pops, slices of pastel pink cake, Pegasus decorated biscuits, glasses of champagne and elderflower cocktails adorned with edible flowers. I was in a magical fairy land. The new seasons accessories were gorgeous, all pastel coloured and Pegasus themed with teddy bears dangling from the bags. I wanted it all.

LANTERN SENSE
I headed a few stops East to Holborn for the Lantern Sense show. My ticket had a magical silver star on it which signified to the door guy that I was press. Press really means something at LFW…yet not as much as a gold star which seemed to signify that you were a celebrity and would be seated in the front row. I got sent to the second row which was rather exciting. Gorgeous floral headpieces were in contrast to the grunge inspired safety pin adorned collection. I have to note that in a very non fashion week style, the show started bang on time. Very impressive.

VIN + OMI

A couple of hours later it was time for my last show of the day. The show was held at an obstetricians centre a long walk from Baker Street tube station. Very peculiar. I headed down to the venue a couple of hours before the start as my ticket was on a piece of paper and I was worried I would be waiting around for a long time to just not be let in. I chatted to the woman in charge of the shows PR and she gave me a priority stamped invitation and said I would definitely get in. Few, off to Pret for a bottle of water and to camp out by a plug socket!
I head along to the show at 17:30 with my priority ticket in hand and am directed to the priority queue which is luckily half the length of the other queue. The show is due to start at 18:00 but by 18:25 we are all still queuing outside in the freezing cold. The non-priority line is now a good 200 people long. We are finally let in from the freezing cold and I get to take a seat in the 3rd row. The front two rows are for “extra priority”, basically the famous faces. After 10 minutes of photo calls with all the celebs standing on the catwalk, the lights dim, the music starts up and out comes the first model. With bright colours, textured outfits and padlocks hanging from the models nails we are off to a very wacky start.

Swanning in and out of catwalks with stars and priority stickers on your tickets can definitely give you an air of pride and satisfaction. Yet a few of the fashionistas I encountered were a little on the scary side.
They were not going to let anyone get in their way of what they wanted and what they wanted was the camera on them and the front row was the least they would stand or in their case sit for. You have to commend them for their braveness. These PR girl at the door that you have to get past are at times very intimidating.
Reflecting on my first working London Fashion Week I must say I had a fabulous, exhausting and surreal time but I was incredibly lonely. I barely muttered a word all day to anyone apart from when I rung my husband and parents for a fashion week gossip. According to my iPhone’s health app I walked 19,000 steps, no wonder my calves are aching today.

Valentine’s Day Mr & Mrs Special

My gorgeous hubby Liam kindly agreed to co-star in one of my You Tube videos.
We decided to film a Mr & Mrs inspired paddle game.
We answered questions like Who Is The Messiest? and Who Is The Best Driver?
I thought we would be a lot better at the quiz than we were.
We know each other so well but I think we both just wanted to be the best.
Click on the video at the bottom to take a look at how we got on.
Make sure you subscribe as well.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone
